New Everton Stadium

It’s called “ Brand Awareness “

Maximum exposure for the name of the firm and if the team does well it potentially rubs off on them with regards to business too.
It's a fantastic deal for them. Their name will be printed and repeated globally thanks to association with Everton.

It's what we are getting back from it that I'm yet to be convinced on.

Typical vague references to amounts are being thrown around.

There was a time I would have resisted such change.

But since 1992 - the Champions League and Premier League formations - and 1989 - Kenwright joining the board - this has become inevitable. The zombie club post-1995 (being generous) needs putting out of its misery once and for all. Everton might as well go out of business if it's raison d'etre is not to genuinely punch its true weight at the top of the game.
The change is being resisted. It is easy to clamber for Riquelme and shearer, and whoever else. Such lifestyle improvements come with a dollar sum attached.

Let someone else pay it... "I'm alright jack!"

Keeps happening.

Is this where the 10m is coming from (from the Guardian);

‘’Neither party has announced the length or financial terms of the deal but Everton claim it is “one of the largest stadium naming rights deals in Europe”. That would value the deal at around £10m per year’’

If So it’s a guess as to what Everton mean by ‘one of the largest’. 2-3 million would put you into the top 20 so it could be anything.
And they didn't specify it was "one of the largest" deals in a financial sense. The contract could just be 1000 pages long, or written in a huge font on a comically large paper size and paid for with one of those novelty cheques.

Sure - think you’re wrong but agree to disagree. My point is there’s no way we’re getting 10mm pounds per season. This is another Kitbag-esque fiasco where it’ll be touted as the greatest deal ever but in reality it’s not. To be determined in 2 years when our accounts for next season are released

I don’t think we’re getting 10 mill either, unless it’s bundled with a front of shirt sponsorship. Be about 30% lower, with accelerator's.

Is it the best deal we could have got - most don’t like to admit it - but commercially we’re unattractive.

There are some things I like with this brand, it’s an organisation with roots in the local community, who are investing in their City and Community, they have a marine background fitting fir the development we have in the docks - in a world and a thread that weirdly is giving about capitalism and corporations, here we have two local community based clubs backing each other and investing in each other, they are both from the City and Waterfront - I’ll be damed if there isn’t some Romance in that.

There's a self-defeating, self-limiting piety in Evertonians. It's why Athletic Bilbao don't win too much, either.
we're working class salt of the earth, but we also deserve the best of the best. It's the support that is simultaneously happy to accept mediocrity and also deserve better.

in quotes.

Some people don't have to adhere to reality. Lunatics. Often very interesting in an entertainment type way.

When the hurly-burly's done,
When the battle's lost and won.

We are socialists - but we demand to be sponsored by a human rights-abusing kleptocratic Arab despotism.

The name is an utter embarrassment.

The School of Science
Saint Domingo’s
Goodison Park
The grand old lady
The holy trinity
St Luke’s, the church of football

………..The Hill Dickinson stadium

It’s an absolute outrage.
All of those names you mentioned are affiliated with by gone eras of football, where stadium sponsorship wasn't a common practice or even necessary. I love how people want Everton to be competitive with other better funded clubs after we were in a financial black hole for decades.

I get the name lacks a certain romanticism that evertonians clamor for, but if it can provide substantial financial income for next couple of seasons, to help us close the resource gap with other clubs I can tolerate the name. The notorious crap kitbag deal has been invoked regarding this deal but no one is even certain of the full details and benefits that this situation would offer. I think performative ire could be put on hold until the situation is fully comprehended

They have a turnover of about 53 million a year.

No way they are putting £ 10 mill every year.
Well, their revenue for last year was reported as £145m and profit from that at £46m.

They are an international company and the premier league has global appeal, out of their operating costs they may already be spending a substantial amount on marketing and advertising, they have to be spending £99m a year on something.

Also TFG may have done a deal to use Hill Dickinson for future legal work across their businesses, which could be worth a substantial amount to Hill Dickinson

The MLS team in my area's shirt sponsor for a long time was a video game console, and then when they changed it the new one was an online retailer pretty much none of us had heard of. It was weird how many people got upset at having a smaller company sponsoring, when that smaller company was willing to shell out more cash because the entire purpose of advertising is to get your name out there more.

It's one thing if you get some super dodgy Asian betting site, but the entire reason for doing these sponsorships is advertising, and an international law firm that is associated with maritime law sponsoring a stadium on the docks is a pretty logical play. I just hope the money is closer to that 10 million figure than anything. That's all that matters. The name is too cumbersome for anybody other than a broadcaster in pregame to say, so to me that's a pretty good situation if the money is right.
