New Everton Stadium

So according to some it's dropped from £10m down to £3m, I swear by morning, we will have paid them to advertise their name, never change Dave, never change.

You have to bear in mind his opening gambit on all of this, was that the ground would never be built.

He’s been rowing back on that one ever since.

This is just more of similar nonsense.

But we do know who they are now . . . and that's the whole point of sponsorship. It's basically just advertising.
Some of the names being speculated about by posters on here were pure pie in the sky. Toyota and Qatar Airways et al are already better known globally than Everton, so why the Hell would they pay us Millions of pounds for sponsorship?

We only know because they sponsored our shirts.

In the wider world, not many people would know Hafnia is (was?) a Danish bacon company.

It seems to me that the 10m is nothing more than a guess based off Everton’s claim that it is “one of the largest stadium naming rights deals in Europe”.

That has led media outlets to assume it must be in the 10m category.

It depends on what Everton think “one of the largest’’ means

Top 5 would be north of 10 million per year
7m per year would get you into the top ten.
3m per year would get you into the top 15

It’s called “ Brand Awareness “

Maximum exposure for the name of the firm and if the team does well it potentially rubs off on them with regards to business too.
Yes but they are selling a service, they would have to seriously ramp up their personnel to deal with all the new clients that they need to pay off the cost of this sponsorship, there just no way that it is 10m per year

Educated assumption but even if I’m wrong, I don’t see a non-top 100 law firm giving 20% of their profit to sponsor Everton football club in one of the most lucrative stadium sponsorships in Europe

Btw there’s 1000s of companies with 50mm in profit. Obviously it’s impressive and I would love to own one! But from a business perspective, it’s not exactly printing cash compared to the plenty of others who could sponsor us

So assumption then, you don’t actually know mate.

Your issue with these guys seems to be scale both in terms of recognition and revenue. I think a lot of people would be happy with a company they recognised, but lost money hand over fist.

Secondly Everton make more in revenue annually than these guys, but Everton post 90 mill losses. It doesn’t matter how much money your company turns over if you are looseing more than you make, whether hthat be Apple or the corner shop.

There may be companies that 50 mill pound a year but less again 50% profit on what you said their turnover was.

I’ll do a deep dive tomorrow, but I’ve already seen, they’ve advised on deals worth 1.9 billion this financial year and grew their revenue by a third. - interesting when you look at some of the companies they advice.

In a way there own financials don’t matter - we have a contract with them, it’s irrelevant to us if the have a profit of 10 mill, 50 mill or 500 mill - all that matters is w3 are paid what was agreed, anything else isn’t our issue.

He's not even been in a week.

This stuff is why you are golden. Tricky dick davek... "I am not impressed"...
@davek is forum treasure. You just know his eyes lit up when he saw that stadium name: "That's my material for the weekend, right there!"

I'll say this, though: whatever we think of this new naming deal, these owners have certainly set their stall out given the weekend that's in it. This is going to be a very different Everton from Monday onwards. While a huge part of me laments that - the bit up to 1987 - I can't say a total reset isn't badly needed. We have been living like zombies on past glories, faded dreams, and sepia-tinged sentimentality for 35 years. We'll see a lot of tears on Sunday. Many will be heartfelt and sincere. Some will be for an Everton that absolutely has to die.

I have been specific elsewhere re what's coming. vekna indeed the full works.

There's some big lessons coming to the hill @ bmd. Dollars cents and nickels.

Is this where the 10m is coming from (from the Guardian);

‘’Neither party has announced the length or financial terms of the deal but Everton claim it is “one of the largest stadium naming rights deals in Europe”. That would value the deal at around £10m per year’’

If So it’s a guess as to what Everton mean by ‘one of the largest’. 2-3 million would put you into the top 20 so it could be anything.

There was a time I would have resisted such change.

But since 1992 - the Champions League and Premier League formations - and 1989 - Kenwright joining the board - this has become inevitable. The zombie club post-1995 (being generous) needs putting out of its misery once and for all. Everton might as well go out of business if it's raison d'etre is not to genuinely punch its true weight at the top of the game.

Sure - think you’re wrong but agree to disagree. My point is there’s no way we’re getting 10mm pounds per season. This is another Kitbag-esque fiasco where it’ll be touted as the greatest deal ever but in reality it’s not. To be determined in 2 years when our accounts for next season are released
