Summer Transfer Window 2025 Thread

Be absolutely gutted to see Branners go to one of the manc rats or them lot across the park. Or any other club in the league for that matter.

If he goes abroad I could deal with that.

Just do not think we sell Branthwaite this summer tbh. Terrible optics for TFG/new board to come in and sell our best player the first chance they get, makes them look skint.

….slightly contradicts Moyes comments that ‘we hold all the cards’ when it comes to keeping him and the rumours that he’s been offered an improved deal.
I sort of agree with you Eggs, but that sounded like a flag being out in the ground yesterday. If rumours are true then Real are after a centre half. I can see them coming in with a bid, and yesterday’s comments says make any bid big because we’re in control of the situation.

As I explained, to allow the capacity to spend. Even the top teams will sell players they'd rather not.

Also, no need to be personal mate. If you want to continue to be allowed to post on here next season, understand;
We will spend and have the capicity to do so from July 1st again it’s the glass half empty fans who think we need to sell Branthwaite for 80/90mil and then 70 goes to PSR and we spend 20mil. It’s utter nonsense we can spend good money with out selling Branthwaite and again TFG won’t want to be selling our biggest asset as soon as they walk through the door

…agree, unless they want to leave.

There will always be an economy in players leaving, but you extract the maximum value from having them here fist i.e. 4/5 seasons then realise their value. Like what Spurs did with Kane or Rice with West Ham.

It would be very hard for us to buy the best players from Spurs, Newcastle of Villa - yet its been easy for them to buy our best players. If we want to compete with those teams we have to stop selling to them and keeping our best players.

Cunha signed a new deal recently.
Means nothing other than putting the club in a better bargaining position.
Cunha will be gone come summer.

But still hope we keep Branthwaite at least for another season.
He has 3 yrs left,
If he doesn’t sign a new deal we sell next summer and we probably do a 100mil release clause if he signs a new deal

This is generally true. Although in this case, there’s a chance that O’Brien comes in and does a great job. Getting in 80m can get us competing far quicker.

It very rarely works like that mate, people try and convince me every year - that selling Rooney, Gordon, Richarlison and Onana lets us improve and reinvest - it doesnt happen.

Its one of the biggest cods people tell themselves.

I think you’re conflating how it can be done (and that’s probably the case with Moyes), and the sh1t show of the last few years.

We need quantity and quality.

We can spend a lot more if we sell him.

As I say, I'd much rather keep him. Whatever we can get for him now, we can get in 4/5 years.

But I think the situation we're in, the club will be thinking if we sell him we have the capacity for a rebuild - the type of which we don't without selling. Man Utd likely sell Mainoo. Villa rebuilt after Grealish.

Agree TFG will be mindful of optics, but nothing JUDAS/he didnt want to stay, and then lashing £250/£300m on the team wouldn't sort.
