I see a lot of green there.

Lets compare him to say Jan Oblak for example.

Now im not really a numbers guy, but, well I like colours.

The 8th best keeper in Europe is the Spurs 3rd keeper who played one game. Conceeded 2 goals from 4 shots and they lost.

Sign him up Moyes.

What the hell is this website @Simon Buttle

How is that Spurs fraud the 8th best keeper according to the stats from one game?

Cant argue with stats mate.

Pickford is ranked lower than La Havres back up Keeper and we just need to accept it.

Did jessie Lingard keep a place in the England side for 10+ years and play in multiple world cups, cos if he did, I concede your point.
I don't understand why we're doing this. Pickford has strong points and his strong points make sense for England.

He also has weak points and I'd argue those points make less sense for us. We're not playing high up enough where his ability to sweeper keep and stop 1v1s becomes useful as often as we're going to need a keeper who can shot stop from further out. He wins us points one way and loses us them the other. He is who he is.

What frustrates me is he hasn't improved what he can improve. I get that he's not going to wake up one day and be 6'5 or have an NBA small forward wingspan. However not taking a false step behind the wall and getting beat keeper side requires none of it and he's not fixed a long standing issue. Here see for yourself. This is from years ago:

This isnt me being a "top blue", but I actually had a great view of Rats free kick today and it was poor from JP.

Pickford makes mistakes, shots from distance seem to be his weakness, other than never coming for crosses, but IMO, he saves us vastly more than his mistakes.

His mistakes are glaring, due to him being a GK.

That doesnt make him not a top GK, nor does it mean we could do any better, IMHO, without Pickford, we have a 2pm game against Tranmere at Walton Hall Park tomorrow.

@Goat also @Moomin I have no issue with Pickford considering where we are atm and nobody can deny he has bailed us out on numerous occasions but he ain't immune from critique with certain things and today he looked too far forward and too far over to the side for that free kick. I also have no idea why fbref has such a strange way of assessing goalkeepers like that, there are other weird things on there but its all opta stuff which is what the clubs use at the end of the day just that the fbref people lay it out in a strange way (not the first time they have been accused of this tbf)

Oh mate, FBref lists them in alphabetical order, not based on stats.

For me it does make him not a top GK and I'll always stand by my feeling that he should have been moved on years ago to help the finances.

Would we do better? Hard to say, I see someone like Bernd Leno who was basically just handed to Fulham and I think we could have done alright for ourselves while also still believing freeing up cash would allow us to do something like say not have to sign Jack Harrison on loan multiple times.

For the most part though he's good. As I said it's how he's bad on the occasions he is that drives me up a wall.
