Beto is my kind of player. He represents what it takes to fight hard. Even if you’re not the very best, you try to be the very best you can be. He’s an Evertonian.

What I really liked about his goal today is that he didn’t rush it or lash at it, he just caressed it past the keeper. That shows a bit of confidence rather than the panicked snatching at shots we were seeing from our forwards a couple of months ago. Goals and results breed confidence which then translates to better play, better decision making and the ability to shrug off missed chances and keep hunting for opportunities. We need him to stay fit, he’s not the perfect striker but he’s certainly stepped up when we’ve really needed him. Pleased for him

I will say that if his goal had taken a different deflection he would be getting screamed at for not just putting his foot through it.

Instead, it went in and he’s praised for his composure.

For the record, I think the composure was the right move, but GOT is a fickle mistress.

I think the pairing of him and Charly is gonna be really fruitful. Both seem to like getting stuck in and physical. They were reading each other well and moving together.
