He is still a bit crap but he can finish incredibly, he's in that Straq/Niasse tier of Everton striker I think.
Here's a classic example of how hyperbole abounds in football. So you really think after a few goals he’s some superstar striker. I’d bet you as much money as you want he won’t be our starting number 9 next season. He did well second half yesterday, first half I thought he offered very little apart from the goal obviously
He’s just the new niasse scores a few goals and some fans wet thier knickers
GoalsHe offers something that DCL doesn't -
Old school number 9.
He offers something that DCL doesn't - as a target man we can lump it up and there's a better than even chance he'll get it and allow midfielders time to get up in support. Strong as an ox. Better finisher than I gave him credit for - but that's also linked to confidence. He was excellent yesterday. Even if DCL was fit I think Moyes would prefer Beto for his style.
It also helps that we can actually get numbers up to support him. DCL was always isolated so his flick on headers were pointless.
He’s a much much better player than those. He is still a bit crap but he can finish incredibly, he's in that Straq/Niasse tier of Everton striker I think.
I'm not picking sides on our strikers like that. I can just see that Betos overall game needs work, he is extremely clumsy and prone to stupid things, for instance that pass shot thing he did in the second half, it made zero sense what he did. He’s a much much better player than those.
Are you a DCL fan by chance?
Spot on.Here's a classic example of how hyperbole abounds in football.
You really think there are only 2 levels for a footballer? Crap or superstar striker? Nothing in between?
I don't think anyone is suggesting he's top notch.
Just that, with a run of games, a team playing to his strengths and a bit of confidence individually and collectively, he's clearly a useful player.
