Yeah would be good but he wont be starting yet. That been said, we've all seen more than enough from Doucoure to know that virtually anybody starting over him would be a major upgrade.
Doucoure damages us in so many ways, his inability to retain the ball or to pass it to a team mate, no matter how close they may be to him is the single biggest threat to us getting anything in a game. He effectively acts as the 12th man for our opponents. I appreciate that managers see lots that we do not. But how they cannot see that this man is a millstone, despite any perceived workrate, utterly baffles me.

and his first thoughts about passing are always backwards, he stalls so many progressions up the pitch

In for Doucoure in the starting XI immediately

Whopping free kick attempt, forgot players can actually kick them with force
Even if it forces Doucouré to consider his position in the XI due to competition, that's a positive in itself. There has been no challenge for his place for far too long.

In terms of Alcaraz himself, as I said last night it's far too early to tell, but he showed tenacity, a desire to get his head up and travel, and he can pass.

Highlights I've seen of Alcaraz on YouTube gave me the impression he's a little bit more one footed than you'd ideally want and that he seems to run out of ideas at times when he gets to the edge of the box.

That said, good little cameo yesterday. I liked what I saw and none of the perceived weaknesses I saw in his highlights were evident either.

…good cameo, players can demonstrate they have quality in the briefest of appearances. I actually liked the little cushioned lay-off to Iroegbunam setting him up for a shot at goal just inside the box.

It doesn’t take much to determine a footballer has quality.

I thought when he had the ball he played with a mental quickness and a physical tempo we don't have in the team.

mental alacrity and vision.

The bit I've seen he looks like a jack in the box, ready like a coiled spring to dart about quickly. Get him and Ndiaye on the same wavelength and we'll get our share of decisions eventually.

What was the stat when he was here, Pienaar was the most fouled player in the league? Let's get a wicked strong left footer in LB and watch this side down a few of the rest of the league.

He hit one cross field at pace i think it was to Harrison hadn't seen one of our center midfielders do in beards. Also noticed he hangs very deep when we are attacking just behind the play purposefully, in acres of space - that's going to ask questions of other teams.

Was making that comparison in the week between Illy and Pienaar drawing fouls, ill take a couple of full backs in the summer for sure.
