Saw sky sports put up a stat the other day about wages to turnover. It was on about spurs being well run club and how theirs is 42%. But at the bottom was villa with wage to turnover ratio of 96%. And that’s before these signing in January.
That will have dropped significantly with Duran’s sale even with the addition of half a season of £350k per week for Rashford and their other recruits. They also sold Philogene for £20m so that’s £90m on the revenue line for this FY plus any other outgoing business they may have done or may do e.g. Watkins

That wage Bill is incredible if true, that's running a club by the seat of you're pants. These are the dangers though if you want to compete, a few mistakes..

Well a lot of the more visible, obvious income seems to be significantly driven by player re-sale value. I’m not sure what what their off field commercial income is like but they did £269m of revenue last reporting year to earn them 18th place in Deloittes money league. They said they expected further financial growth this reporting period. Last summer they had a net spend of just over £40m ( according to Transfer Market - not sure if reliable or not) so far this window and have bought this window. One massive outgoing ever so often really helps and they will have had Grealish in last 3 year cycle, but now have Duran.

Can’t be Villa. How are they even doing this? Asensio, Malen, Rashford, how are they doing this type of business. Suppose the Duran sale helps loads but they seem to be able to spend what they want.
Diaby & Duran sales will help massively, but the £100m they banked for Grealish, pure profit as came through academy, will have gone a long way from a PSR perspective. Also got champions league coffers coming in to, so likely in a nice position, more so after Duran sale. They sold grealish and kicked on, we sold Gordon, Onana, Kean, Richarlison to keep the wolves from the door, most of it swallowed up by interest charges and keeping the lights on 😔 onward and upwards from next season I feel however and If the stadium naming rights deal gets announced, this may help fast track us towards better days.

Surely United are eating most of Rashford’s wages still

Villa are minted. Isn’t their owner the richest man in Egypt

Yeah the Grealish sale helped immensely if not springboarded them, not sure about their commercial deals but European football has helped revenue too. But none of the top 4 darlings have a wage bill ratio like that. Think you're right about the player resale value keeping their heads above water, but even that can fail. You need very good commercial deals and hopefully our new ground can bring us that regularly. So glad it's the Friedkins handling it and not Moshiri.

So Danny Ings incoming lol.

I mean they were playing Kudus up front so with Ferguson and the German Fullkrug to come back Ings might be the only striker i know a team like West Ham will let go. Think he has turned us down in the past though
good hope we dont go for him
think hes been way over rated

We have absolutely no cover at LB. We have been trying to bring one in throughout the window, particularly Diouf from Slavia Prague.
Mitchell is a superb defensive LB but struggles a bit under the Glasner system which uses wing backs. Getting forward, beating a man offensively, crossing are not Mitchell’s obvious strengths. (Although he has and continues to improve in these areas).
Hence the link with Chillwell, if it is a good deal financially for us and he doesn’t knock us back,it gives him some game time and puts him in the shop window for the summer. We will try again to bring someone in on a permanent as cover for Mitchell who can provide some competition in the role.
After Chelsea took back Chalobah from his loan because ( they claim) they were short of CB’s and then sold two in this window I’d rather not we dealt with them at all but hey ho.
I don't think we're in the market for a LB till the summer, as Young can provide cover. The absolute priority is to bring in a striker, as if Beto gets injured now we're screwed.

really like what i saw of ferguson but not worth it with his current injury record. I bet if we had a loan slot free we might have tried, but it probably isn't wise overall.

Haven’t the premier league now put PSR to one side to be replaced by a wages ratio target of 70% max for all clubs to meet. Clubs will need to be better commercially and our new stadium along with so many high earners off the wage bill at seasons end, will be a major shot in the arm to have the upper hand on some clubs. Outstanding recruitment has kept the likes of Brighton & Bournemouth in the higher echelons, but their small stadiums, with limited commercial incomes, outside of transfer sales, leaves them at much greater risk than us short & longer term. New stadium will be game chnaging for us, however, we will only reap the benefits of this, if we marry this up with better player recruitment, to enable us to generate funds from player sales in the future, rather than days of throwing money at old rope, who leave on a free. Lessons will have been learned, we will be a proper professional outfit, with proper people on the board running a tight ship etc. Get through till May, and potential is vast.
