Looking at the two lads performance data, Canara seems far more a Gueye type than Diarra who seems like a ball carrying centre mid - his Def stats are super low for example.

Checked out Mcatee on that as well, his defensive statistics are insanely good - especially so given he's at city where they normally suffer from having the ball all the time.

Funny if you look at a Beto and DCL compassion as well - doesn't make pretty reading for Dom.

Was bored so did a bit of digging I to various players we've either bought or had credible reports we tried to buy, one million percent that Thelwell is a heavy user of statistics in recruitment.

Alcaraz very much fits his template on that regard btw.

Such a pity we couldnt bring in Camara last summer, dirt cheap.

I certainly wouldnt be complaining if we signed Diarra & Camara. Has a little bit of everything there. Those two with Garner, Iroegbunam and an ageing Gana would be a super duper midfield.

Don't be surprised if we bring in Ebimbe from Frankfurt btw Zat, his data at FB/WB would be a perfect Moyes player

Cant see a premier league player there.

Maybe not mate.

By next season we need I'd guess 6 in for those three central spots. Gueye looks an obvious extension, Garner definitely and need to get him an extension too and Tim for the third.

So we'll need three in - Alcaraz is obviously one they are thinking could be in the mix so leaves two positions we'll need if we do keep the Argie lad.

Mcatee, Or either of the two Senegal players, Dann at Sunderland should they not come up - without breaking sweat that's four quality players none of who would be out of reach financially either cone the summer.

Gueye long term is who we'll need to replace - but on his firm right now week to be able to bring in anyone who can displace him until he starts to show signs of slowing down, absolutely remarkable player for his age. All the lads I mentioned you'd figure would want to be first choice which is were we will find it hardest to convince guys to come I guess.

ACM: Alcaraz / Armstrong
CM: Gana / Iroegnunam
CM: Garner / ???

Thats where the Chris Rigg shouts should be deafening.

Makes absolutely no sense for Palace to do that.... Mitchell already there, wages nuts, always injured.
A fit Chilwell is a miles better player than Mitchell. Could be they’re taking the punt that he can stay fit this season. Chilwell and Munoz flying up and down each flank as wing backs would make Palace a pretty menacing side IMO

Can’t be Villa. How are they even doing this? Asensio, Malen, Rashford, how are they doing this type of business. Suppose the Duran sale helps loads but they seem to be able to spend what they want.

That Duran sale has opened them up financially

Don’t Saudis usually pay most up front too? Or is it all cash and no staged payments ?

If it’s all in front they can spend hundreds of millions based on that sale alone

Not the best source but Alan Nixon is linking us with Adrien Truffert from Rennes. Pretty random link but may be one we go after in the summer instead…

They did sell Diaby for a decent fee in the summer as well so are probably in a good place PSR wise. They’ll be demolishing their wage structure to get Rashford in though, could well be worth it if Emery gets him playing again though.

Saw sky sports put up a stat the other day about wages to turnover. It was on about spurs being well run club and how theirs is 42%. But at the bottom was villa with wage to turnover ratio of 96%. And that’s before these signing in January.

I thought exactly the same thing. Seems a strange signing. Maybe @Alan Whittle can enlighten us. Either way, I'm pleased he's not coming here, crocks on massive wages living off past glories is a big part of how we ended up with multiple points deductions.
We have absolutely no cover at LB. We have been trying to bring one in throughout the window, particularly Diouf from Slavia Prague.
Mitchell is a superb defensive LB but struggles a bit under the Glasner system which uses wing backs. Getting forward, beating a man offensively, crossing are not Mitchell’s obvious strengths. (Although he has and continues to improve in these areas).
Hence the link with Chillwell, if it is a good deal financially for us and he doesn’t knock us back,it gives him some game time and puts him in the shop window for the summer. We will try again to bring someone in on a permanent as cover for Mitchell who can provide some competition in the role.
After Chelsea took back Chalobah from his loan because ( they claim) they were short of CB’s and then sold two in this window I’d rather not we dealt with them at all but hey ho.

Chilwell>Mitchell going forward if he is fit. Otherwise and in all other circumstances Mitchell>Chilwell imo.
