Drenthe the enigma

he was a fuken disgrace today ,toys and dummies ,but i will still take him as ive said all along little bit of loving arm around the shoulder , i could just see bry clough with him

His worst game for us, done my heading all game, although the ref didnt give him much.

With the right direction he could be a great player, the mad dutch [Poor language removed].

Sure, he wasn't great today.

But he still could easily of had a penalty, hit the bar and it was his good pass out to Baines for the cross which saw us score.

If thats a bad game then i'd take a few of them between the good games.

Should have had a pen and came close to scoring a ridiculous free kick.

If that's him at his worst then I can't complain.

When he gets the ball he gets you buzzing because you honestly dont know whats hes going to-do

How many other players in our team have that edge where out of nothing can make something happen

If we lose him at the end of this season I will be very sad to see him leave

I think we saw in that one incident just how much Neville relies on his Coleman security blanket to keep him from harm. One on one with a winger and he shit a brick and was furious he'd been exposed to it.

The sooner we try Seamus out at RB and see if he has what it takes there the better.

Bollox.. no offence intended but Neville rightfully bollocked drenthe for being petulant and failing to track back... feck all wrong with that.

Obviously the bad points were the falling over and being too busy moaning at the ref instead of tracking back.

But it seems that he is the new Bily and every single thing he does is going to be analyzed and criticised by some.

Evertonians moan about us being predictable, boring to watch, negative, creatively lacking, overly defensive, incapable of scoring from more than 5 yards out...

One player turns all that on his head, and also didn't carry a transfer fee, but hang on he's not perfect ffs.

Evertonians are fickle and I honestly think moaning is for us what conspiracy theories are to the RS.

To be fair, there are several of us that are recognizing the good with the bad. I think what frustrates me is that a good chunk of the "not so great" - the falling over, the pouting - could be fixed.

I just want him to do that to be great.

Has nothing to do with his creativity and guile, which is standout.

Not ready to kick him to the curb, but he, like everyone else on this team, needs to work on their bad habits.

agree....but for differing reasons. Neville is not my fav player by a long shot and has never been the best player both here and at united,, but if we had 4 or 5 players with his attitude, determination and general will to win we would be a better team.. in that I have no doubt... but we all slate Neville for not being perfect too.

Exactly though: the bad things about Drenthe can be fixed. Inversely Phil Neville will never have pace, guile or even modest footballing ability.

Ultimately though quality makes the difference at the top end, not shouting, clapping or pointing.

Also Drenthe's supposed attitude is a mild character assassination for me. He covers a lot of ground and chases numerous lost causes. He celebrates like a nutjob when he scores or we score. He talks fondly of the club and players in interviews.

Want him to stay! He a loose canon but I think that's half the appeal he can make things happen in an instant! Even wen things not goin his way! Worth the gamble I think

Also helps my impression of him. He practically ran Cahill over in his zest today.

I just want him to stay on his feet and pass the damn ball quicker more often. :)

At £70k per week ? Cause that's what he will demand.

Really liked him (up to today - the failure to get off his butt which nearly cost us a goal was unforgivable) but the salary demands will mean we won't sign him. In fairness you can't blame him for wanting to continue on the same wage.

But let's all blame Moyes anyway for not wanting him. It's more ammo to bash him with after all.

Works better when you load it into a gun not whacking him with it :P

Agree with you, up to the club if they think they can offer him the wages he wants. If he moves on, I won't hold no grudges, man's looking to earn the best dollar he can. Something tells me he gets it here though, just don't want him forced out.
