6 + 2 Point Deductions

You clearly haven’t read my posts. The only suggestion I have made re the Forest issue is I said that based on the Sheffield Wednesday written reasons why someone could come to the conclusion that their argument re selling Johnson would be 50% mitigation.

As an aside the reason I don’t post in match day threads is that supporters of opposing clubs rarely see the game through different tinted lenses
Evening Kieran. How are you tonight pal?

and have a quota of home grown players in the team/squad, say 1 who has been with you since u16, one from u19 and one from u21 in th match day squad, as said above, match day squad of 15 with 3 subs

The sky 6 will still have their ways of combating this. Look at City recently signing that young lad from our academy for pittance. That really was the straw for me which made me lose faith in football. I mean we already lose our best players, we can't compete with the ones they sign and they are signing our best youth players too.

There is literally no pathway anymore to improve.

Think Villa are ok. You can knock of 25 - 30mill, a year on average for underage, depreciation and women’s football, think Villa are grand, all be it, they will have to sell to generate funds and their wage bill looks bad.

Last year they posted a

22: 400k profit, so - 25 mil, PSR surplus

23: 112 loss, so about + 97 PSR loss.

24: They prob can make a 30 mill PSR loss and be alright.

They also have European revenue this year and prob next and likely high enough PL placement money.

They're in the position now where they need to be qualifying for CL regularly and that will be difficult next season as we've seen with Newcastle struggling to cope with the intensity of games every 3-4 days.

Someone like Digne will certainly be sold in the summer as they'd have signed him on an insane wage considering what he was earning here. Also think they'll cash in on Jacob Ramsey in next 18 months if he can actually stay fit as England will likely call him up post Euros which will inflate his fee more.

All these teams having to sell players before June 30th to avoid PSR, is there going to be enough buyers? A few teams could be in trouble....
Top 6 will line up for the bargains
Also what a powerful position for the buyers to be in. They know these clubs literally have to clear some profit before the 30th of June or take a point deduction. If you’re United or Arsenal and you want Ollie Watkins you can literally lowball Villa until they eventually cave or accept 6 points deduction and you probably get the player anyway after 40th June because they’ll want to sort out the next accounting period as well.

It truly is the legislation that has screwed any incursion on the PL elite. Sell your best players to your rivals at the time and prices they dictate or face point deductions.
Clubs outside the top 6 hit with both sides of the double edge sword
Can't compete
Can't negotiate full value for players
Sky/big6/PL are all married to the idea that the brand fails if the top6 fail
I can see the whole thing failing if they completely remove viable competition permanently
To justify it, the media spin narratives around top4, top 6, relegation battle etc. and tell other clubs to be grateful for their allocated lane
'I fart in their general direction'

They may well be grand but it's sickening they can't build on the momentum they've got going, just like Newcastle fell off this season because they were hamstrung in the transfer market

The 129 mill loss is a big one, that will take some managing for years, just as our 111 mill did. There wage bill is very high.

They’ve invested alright, lucked out on one or two like getting Countino, Ings and one or two others out the door, we could never do that with our surplus.

I think they’ll sell Douglas Luiz for big money myself, massively underrated by the gutter hype media but he won’t have escaped the notice of the bigger team scouts, hel go for big money in my opinion mate.

Newcastle had a bad run of injuries I think mate. But they’ve also signed for the future, Gordon looks a snip, Barnes is a good player, Bruno, Botman,, Pope, Isack, Tonali, Schar, selling Bruno forgives a lot for them.

We really were so unbelievably bad with how we invested in players, we couldn’t have done it worse.

Even if we sell our best player every year, like we have done, we still manage to make losses.

There is an argument to be made for being the worst run team ever in the PL, maybe Leeds and Portsmouth were as bad, at least they got a run for it though - we never did.
