6 + 2 Point Deductions

The 129 mill loss is a big one, that will take some managing for years, just as our 111 mill did. There wage bill is very high.

They’ve invested alright, lucked out on one or two like getting Countino, Ings and one or two others out the door, we could never do that with our surplus.

I think they’ll sell Douglas Luiz for big money myself, massively underrated by the gutter hype media but he won’t have escaped the notice of the bigger team scouts, hel go for big money in my opinion mate.

Luiz got two years left so yes could be the big sale this summer, Arsenal wanted him in summer 2022 so could still be interest.

Also what a powerful position for the buyers to be in. They know these clubs literally have to clear some profit before the 30th of June or take a point deduction. If you’re United or Arsenal and you want Ollie Watkins you can literally lowball Villa until they eventually cave or accept 6 points deduction and you probably get the player anyway after 40th June because they’ll want to sort out the next accounting period as well.

It truly is the legislation that has screwed any incursion on the PL elite. Sell your best players to your rivals at the time and prices they dictate or face point deductions.
Alternative take: don’t massively overspend on players.

A successful season, so now villa and their key players will be ripe for the plucking by the clubs who the rules were made for
Not necessarily. I think I'd sooner keep a key player and lose 6 points. We're different because those 6 points could be the difference of us staying up or not.

6 points is pretty much the minimum for first offenders now, let's not forget proving we acted in good faith got us down from ten, if Villa are found to be deliberately not meeting ffp they are likely to get more than 6.

I expect the goalposts to be changed soon, hopefully with guidelines on punishment

Villa getting a 6 points deducation is different to us, is my point. I don't think they necessarily have to lose a player as they could just take a 6 point deducation and still finish top 6. Those 6 points for Everton would likely see us relegated in the last 3 seasons.

Yeah I get you, the biggest problem in all of this is the incredible lack of clarity in the process

Simply don’t agree. Be well run, efficient, build well. Don’t just chuck money at issues.
If Moshiri had built well, we wouldn’t be in half of this mess.
I think your wrong. There is clearly an imbalance between what your allowed to spend and sustaining success in the Premier league. That's why only 6 clubs have done it. You could be the most well run club in the world but you'll still fall short if other clubs can spend more than you.

It's easy to say Moshiri got it horribly wrong etc. But I think that disregards the challenges he faced and the mitigating circumstances. It's possible he could have operating better in terms of recruiting players with sell on value etc. But then effectively the best your still hoping for is what we had with Moyes and being nearly rans.

He took a punt that he wanted to get the club instant success but I think he miscalculated the difficulty of it.
