Both Maupey and Long are 1 in 5 strikers in the Premier League but Long seemed to work harder than Maupey. I think Cannon has a bright future ahead of him. I don't see any Value in selling Cannon at this time. If he stays and makes it worth money if he goes on loan and makes it worth money, if he doesn't make it is a 0 outlay player so worth keeping considering we have sold Simms,Nkounkou, Samuels-Smith and Isaac Price from our academy setup for £14.1 million this summer.

Maupay is like 20 goals from having more than Shane Long in like 10 less seasons. Long scored 56 goals across 15 seasons! This isn’t a Maupay defense. Shane Long was awful.

And to bring it back to Cannon aside from the lazy Irish part what concerns me is he seems like a runner and that’s it. I don’t see the subtleties in his game.

I havent even watched Cannon kick a football, so no idea at all.

He has come on leaps and bounds. Looks a great prospect. Funny how England have come knocking too, they obviously see something worth developing. He looked really good last season.
I remember watching Kane for England u19s and thought he'd won a raffle or was one of the make-a-wish kids - he was shocking. Never saw him going on to be the player he is now. Not saying he is the second coming, but it'll be interesting to see how he develops.

That is exactly it m8, Cannon has just developed later then others and I'd love to see him get at least another year on loan to see how much more he progresses.
Kane is the exact player I was thinking of, not cos of there playing style but that some players just take that bit longer to grow Into the player/star they become.

If you remember kane went out on loan at same time as Chris Wood I think it was, and nobody took notice of Kane, it was Wood who looked the player and got all the attention.
Look at there careers since!!!

We are going to make that mistake at some point and after seeing Cannon last season, he is finally starting to look like a proper player.

It would be a total and utter failure to let him go now.

The last lad they loaned off us they thought was useless, that lad has just made us over 40m.

I've watched both players often and Maupay is awful
Long at least had pace and could stretch the back line
Also capable of scoring an important goal now and again
Maupay is capable of pulling down an opponent for a bit of time wasting, a yellow and slight giggle. Nothing else

Maupay either underscored the incredible amount of chances he got at brighton or did nothing for us
Long played in sides that did not create many chances and didn't play as many minutes per season either

Long wasn't great, but he did offer more to the team than just goals. Maupay offers zilch. And he's annoying.

I fully agree. He needs a year long loan to further develop. I don’t think we can keep him here and just give him the odd game now and then. Send him back to Preston or a club fighting for promotion.

Chris Wood has played a fair bit in the Premier League and on the international stage. Think he has won the same as Kane too!

Aye just looked , 23 senior games, 20 of them at Preston with 8 goals, 20 years of age in December, needs proper senior playing time.
