What’s the point of this thread lol
Setting up the absolute chaos that is deadline day. It's like foreplay. We argue over strategy and targets in advance, so we can all lose our heads at one another once the board fails, yet again, to implement some of the saner approaches even mere fans can reason out.

Hopefully to let some players go and replace them with better ones .. Not sure how we do it but I assume there's nothing in the pot so need to generate some cash from selling some players who still have a value.

With these out of contract this summer:
Davies
Coleman
Mina
Begovic
Lonergan
Vinagre
Townsend
Coady

I can see Coleman getting an extension, and Begovic being kept on (great back up whenever we need it).

The best thing Davies could do is have a fresh start somewhere else. Mina is too expensive at his current wage to keep him, but maybe we could give him an extra year if something can be agreed.

Townsend (great player for us at times, very unlucky to get injured), Vinagre, Lonergan will likely all be gone.

Coady’s an interesting one. I’d say its 50/50 whether he stays.

Walker-Peters would be the one I'd take from the Saints. Unspectacular, but very solid and can cover both flanks.

We were linked in the past so I wouldnt be surprised if we'd be interested again.
Yeah, I think we need to be clever with our recruitment in terms of getting players who are comfortable in multiple positions as our squad has been totally exposed. Walker-Peters fits the bill for me and is probably quite realistic.

Adams would be a perfect replacement for Gana if it wasn't for his injury history. I'm afraid it would just be Mina all over again - a player that walks into the starting 11 when fit but just isn't available enough.

If we're looking at the relegation teams, my top two choices would be Barnes and Jack Harrison. And then we can try putting McNeil into the attacking mid role. So something like Barnes - McNeil - Harrison with a proper forward in front of them. I think that would produce some goals for sure.
Interesting this year that the relegated teams have some actual quality players.

Chris Wood as targetman striker as cover seems very obvious move.

Newcastle will probably get in another striker for CL and they already alternate between Isak and Wilson so Wood is 4th choice and on high wages.

Concern is he went to Forest and got a season ending injury in early March but we know Dyche likes tried and tested and he managed the guy for five years. However this must be a replacement for Simms/Maupay not DCL otherwise you just run into same problems as last two years e.g. little pace and mobility on counter attack.
