It’s not really harsh on him. We stayed up last season as much because of Richarlison as Lampard. He was bumbling along the entire time he was with us, seemingly hoping that showing affinity with the fans was enough, but it wasn’t. He might have proved to be a nicer bloke than we were expecting but he just wasn’t good enough as manager at any point in his time with us.

Dyche, on the other hand, has definitely improved us since he took over, without being given any tools to do so (like a replacement striker in the transfer window). It’s entirely down to his management skills.
Lampard proved he wasn't good enough to be oiur manager. I agree with that.

However, we couldn't compare him with other Everton managers before him because the cash taps had been turned off by the time he arrived. We'll never know where we'd be now if Kudus and Brereton-Dias had been signed in the summer. Not anywhere near a relegation dogfight I suspect.

I'm happy with Dyche though. He's exactly who we need right now.

4 wins or 3 wins and a couple of draws should be enough

my targeted 3 wins

Fulham (home)
Newcastle (home)
Bournemouth (home)

my targeted draws

Spurs (home)
Palace (away)
Leicester (away)
Wolves (away)

ideally we need to pick up at least 1 away win before the end of the season to maybe overcome us potentially failing to beat someone like fulham, newcastle or bournemouth at home

I wouldn’t argue with that, although I still think he was probably in over his head, even if he’d been given some better players.

The best thing Lampard could do if he wants to keep managing is drop down a level and work to prove he can bring a team up into the play-offs, if not into the PL. Too many big name players get fast-tracked to the top when they’ve not had the chance to develop their management skills to anywhere near the level of their playing skills. He looked lost at times with us.

We've got 3 good opportunities tbf. Beating Palace, Leicester or Wolves is going to be a hell of a lot easier than drawing with City and Chelsea away. Those three have lost a lot of points at home this season.

We have 5 points from our last 5 games including Arsenal and Villa defeats.
Same number as Southampton and WHam
Bournemouth have 6 from the last 5 games
Liecester and Palace have 1
Forest have 2
I don't think either Southampton or Bournemouth are good enough to avoid the drop so it becomes an issue of who of the others can reverse their current form.

I dont see Forest doing it.

They have Wolves at home next. If they dont win that they're right up against it, because their remaining fixtures after it look daunting.

Looking at what they have in front of them I'd be highly surprised if they got more than 7 points.

31/32 points for Forest.

What is mad is that we have played all the in form teams and got above average returns

Yes, from the ultimate successor point of view, we have a good period to work with. However, a wobbly start from Roy might mean exploring two different solutions; A Premier League manager or a Championship manager. I still think we should be ok. The performance v Leicester has to be focussed and offensive.

I think Hodgson is about as sensible a pick as you could get. Nobody of note is going to go to any of our teams, with 10 games left and no transfer window. He has experience, knows the club etc.

The concern I would have, is it takes him a little time to get going. He got 8 points from his first 10 games last time, then you went on a great run (Allardyce is similar). I mean maybe Palace would settle for 8, and it would probably keep you up, but the risk is he loses his first 3 like he did before and there is real panic then.

I agree but 2 of those 3 lost games were Man U & Man C away. Better (in theory ) fixtures this time.

Last season we conceded a record 66 goals too. This season we'll probably concede 10-15 goals less.

wow. that is the most as far back as my little search can see
64 conceded in 1964
66 in 1976
63 in 1994
58 in 2018

I suppose we can call that an improvement.

My advice:

Spur's 0
United 0
Fulham 3
Palace 1
Newcastle 0
Leicester 3
Brighton 0
City 0
Wolves 1
Bournemouth 3

Make 11 more points. 37 will do, I think.
