It's all relative. I don't think we should go and get either of those players permanently tbh even if we had tons of cash to spend. There's nothing wrong with doing loan deals.

But we knew that, so you can still try and get them tied up early. They've had FOUR MONTHS, and included in that was an unprecedented break with 6 weeks of no club football to deal with.

And again, just to add to this, we have even less money than we did because they (manager, DoF, board) chose to spend £25-30m on Maupay and McNeil.

Not disputing the final point

The rest of it though is a bit unfair - We need players who will improve us and yet we have no money to get them in. We rely on loans. A team loaning us a player will be dependent on the finances (again, a problem) and whether the loaning team can afford to let them leave on loan

How many players do you suppose are around who will improve us and are available on loan at a price we can afford? I suspect not many - and we'll have competition for those few players and on top of that their availability on loan may be contingent on the loaning team ensuring they have adequate cover first. If you're United, for example, the last thing you want to do is let Elanga leave on loan now and then get a couple of injures to Antony and Sancho or whoever. It makes sense for the loaning clubs to agree these deals later in the window

Yeah mate he's been absolutely dreadful for Atleti for the past 18 months to even two years now.

He's 34 soon, and he's another CB that can't run. In no way is he 'what we need'.

Ok, well he hardly played this season....so how have you seen him be poor when he has not played !?!

He is calm and very good on the ball, he fits a back 5 very well.

We are better as a back 5, and he is better on the ball than all our CB's, minus Mina - Who is on his way out.

It seems to me that far too many on here want us to do the very thing that has us in the mess we are in.

I want players signed, but more importantly I want the right players signed and am prepared to wait if that is what it takes.

How long are you prepared to wait? What about last season when we “waited” to get the right players in and ended up wit El Ghazi, Alli and van de Beek? Or last summer when we waited, took our time, made sure we brought in the right players, to bring in McNeil the week before the season started and Maupay 6 games into it?

What about January 2021 when we waited to get the right players in and brought in Josh King on loan on deadline day?

It blows my mind that people haven’t worked out that leaving it til the last minute dramatically reduces our chances of signing good players and dramatically increases the chances of desperate panic buys.

A 33 year old CB with no pace who has played 2 games all season - an excellent footballer?

Three red cards last season for him - the calmness we need?

Pure wham, your defence of this football club and how it's being run is baffling.

Defence ??!! Never happened. Im trying to be calm and playing devils advocate.....yet you read into what you want.

Its clear some fans just want to be angry and make stuff up to be angry about.

Just becasue he doesnt play for Atletico, doesn't mean he can do a job for us....they are way above our level.
