Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has praised the atmosphere at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Croydon club travelled to Merseyside looking to extend their 19-game unbeaten run.
The visitors took the lead on 37 minutes as Daniel Munoz found space on Everton’s left.
Indeed, it was a goal that had been coming after a poor first half from David Moyes’ side.
The Toffees were without suspended Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and his absence was noticeable in the middle of the park.
With the atmosphere a little flat, changes were made at half-time that fired Everton back into the game.
Charley Alcaraz put in a particularly impressive display, picking up the Player of the Match award.
Tim Iroegbunam also put a shift in, winning the penalty that allowed the Blues to restore parity.
EVERTON SUBS MAKE INSTANT IMPACT AS EVERTON FANS BREAK PREMIER LEAGUE RECORD
The second half atmosphere improved immensely as Everton pushed for a winner, with super Jack Grealish bringing the house down.
His first goal in Everton blue couldn’t have come at a better time. It was a moment that the Hill Dickinson needed.
Indeed, his winning strike prompted wild, record breaking celebrations. As the Toffees cheered his late goal, the noise reached 126 decibels – the loudest of any Premier League ground ever.
Not bad considering the place was referred to as a library by the visiting fans during the first half.
Referencing the atmosphere at full time, Palace manager Oliver Glasner said: “I think they (Everton’s supporters) were quite silent for 60-70 minutes, but also we helped them a little bit to get back. Yes, it was very loud and it’s a really nice stadium… unfortunately we lost.”
The win takes Everton to eighth in the league table, just five points off the summit going into the break.
It has been said that the new ground needed a moment to kick the atmosphere into gear. That it would come organically, just as it often did at Goodison Park.
Jack Grealish certainly gave us that moment yesterday afternoon.
