Report: West Ham Sack Graham Potter Days Before Everton Clash

West Ham have sacked manager Graham Potter just two days before Everton welcome them to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Hammers have had a dreadful start to the season, with just three points from the opening five games of the season.

Rumours have circulated regarding Potter’s potential dismissal for a few weeks, with a fanbase growing increasingly restless.

However, the availability of Nuno Espirito Santo seems to have prompted a decision from the London club. 

The Portuguese coach was dismissed by Nottingham Forest earlier this month after his relationship soured with the club’s owner.

Santo is now expected to take charge of the Hammers ahead of the Everton game.

The timing could scarcely be worse for the Toffees, with Monday’s fixture seen as a must-win for David Moyes.

EVERTON MUST BE WARY OF NEW MANAGER BOUNCE

A disastrous few days has threatened to derail the club’s positive start to the campaign, with three points required to get back on track.

A defeat in the Merseyside derby last weekend was followed by elimination from the League Cup.

The Blues fielded a weakened side for the trip to Wolves, falling to a 2-0 defeat to a side who also rested nine players.

Everton were no doubt hoping to take advantage of West Ham’s poor form to get back to winning ways.

However, the visitors could arrive on Merseyside with a new manager bounce following Nuno’s appointment this morning.

David Moyes will now need to adjust his approach to this fixture, but the goal remains the same.

New manager or not, this is still a struggling West Ham side, and the Blues must take advantage of that.

Some of the early season optimism has evaporated this week. Monday night is an opportunity to regain some momentum and get another three points on the board.
