‘It Will Take Time’: Moyes States Progress has been Made, but Everton Still in a Rebuild

Everton boss David Moyes has spoken about the progress that has been made in the opening weeks of the season.

After consecutive relegation scraps, uncertainty at senior level and a managerial merry-go-round, Everton seem to have stability at last.

With new owners in charge and Moyes back at the helm, we’ve quickly settled into life at BMD.

Two wins and a draw so far this season has been a decent start to life at our new home.

On the road, form has not been quite so good, with just one win out of four in all competitions.

Some of the optimism of recent weeks has faded following a derby defeat and League Cup exit.

However, Moyes insists ‘it will take time’ as Everton look to recover from ‘dark days’.

Speaking ahead of Monday’s game against West Ham, Moyes stated: “I think we have brought a lot of things together and done a lot of good things but this is only the starting point, we are still only just coming out of dark days… hopefully we can keep it going.”

“It will take a little time to get the team together.”

EVERTON MUST NOT DWELL ON CUP DISAPPOINTMENT WITH KEY FIXTURES AHEAD

The past week has been something of a reality check for the Toffees.

While there is no doubt we’re heading in the right direction, our form has taken a dip following what was a four-game unbeaten run.

As frustrating as it has been, we have to keep in mind that we’re in the midst of an enormous rebuild.

I was fuming after Tuesday’s League Cup exit, likewise after a 2-1 defeat in the Merseyside derby.

However, I still think we’re in a position to have a strong season, certainly in comparison to our recent campaigns.

No excuses on Monday night. Everton must put a struggling West Ham to the sword.
