Everton transfer target Malick Fofana has spoken about the interest in him following the closure of the transfer window.
The Toffees showed interest in the Belgian international, with a £31.5m bid turned down by Lyon.
However, the 20-year-old has said he has ‘thought about a transfer’, though there may be competition for his signature.
The sought-after youngster has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as German champions Bayern Munich.
Speaking of the interest in him during the summer, Fofana said: “Me the rising star for the Red Devils? Oh well, I’m a normal guy and I stay calm. I don’t focus on the media either, I just do what I love: dribbling and scoring.
“I’ve thought about a transfer, but now I think it’s more important that I play a lot, and that has to happen at Lyon. Because I still have some progress to make.”
WILL MOYES REIGNITE INTEREST IN FOFANA NEXT SUMMER?
Fofana scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 41 games for Lyon last season. Indeed, the 20-year-old is gaining a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising talents.
He was consistently linked with the Blues, along with Real Scociedad winger Takefusa Kubo. However, a deal for neither player could be reached.
Instead, Moyes turned his attention to Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling, who joined for an initial £35m fee.
The 19-year-old came off the bench for his debut in the 2-0 win over Mansfield Town in the League Cup.
With Aston Villa visiting BMD this weekend, Dibling could be set to make his Premier League debut for the Toffees.
However, should Everton wish to reignite their interest in Fofana, his comments don’t rule out a move away from Lyon.
Moyes will more likely want to focus on strengthening his defence in January. However, perhaps he will return for Fofana next summer.
