Report: Everton to Offer Jordan Pickford Career-Long Contract

Everton have opened talks with Jordan Pickford over a new contract that will keep him at the club for the rest of his career.

The 31-year-old’s current deal expires in 2027. However, we could still see him between the sticks at BMD for many years to come.

As per BBC Sport, Pickford is to be offered the opportunity to remain at Everton for the rest of his career.

It’s frightening to think where we would be if it wasn’t for Jordan Pickford. Few players in recent years have contributed to the club quite as much as the England international.

During consecutive relegation scraps, Pickford’s consistency in goal was a key element in our survival.

Indeed, his capacity to save the seemingly unsaveable kept us in the Premier League. The double save against Chelsea in 2022 is without doubt the best I’ve seen in real life.

It is not only Pickford’s performances that stand out, but his leadership and resilience have been vital too.

While the national media seem obsessed with finding his replacement in the national team, the Everton keeper continues to out perform his competition.

Neville Southall is Everton’s greatest keeper, perhaps even our greatest player of all time. However, for me, Jordan Pickford is second to the Welshman as our best stopper. Every Evertonian will understand what a complement it is to be second only to Big Nev.

PICKFORD A MODERN EVERTON HERO

In particular, Pickford has been a hero to younger generations. Those who weren’t around when we had a successful side.

In an era when we’ve had few heroes, Pickford has been one. A truly top class player, and one who deserves recognition for his contribution.

Keeping such a quality individual at the club for the rest of his career would be a bold statement. The Friedkins seem to mean business, and like their style.

He’s a Mackem, he’s a blue. He’s a Toffee through and through.
