The 27-year-old got off the mark at home against Mansfield Town last week in the League Cup. Indeed, he then followed up with his first league goal of the season in the 3-2 win at Wolves.
The Everton no. 9 states that he is aware that he needs to improve and is aiming to be more prolific in a blue shirt.
Speaking with the Everton website, Beto sets an ambitious individual target, and an equally ambitious target for the Toffees.
The forward revealed: “Every game I think it’s possible for us to win. You can call me delusional, but I’m like this. And I think I can score every game too, but football is football.
“I think we can show more than what we showed today and we just need to keep going.”
Scoring eight goals in 21 games since Moyes’ return, the Scot seems to get the best out of Beto, with only four players scoring more goals during that period. Indeed, only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Chris Wood were more prolific.
However, with few options up front, the pressure is on Beto to be the main man up front this season. The arrival of Thierno Barry offers competition for the jersey, with DCL and Youseff Chermiti both departing.
However, Moyes has added creativity to his side this summer, notably with the arrival of Jack Grealish. Indeed, the England international already has four assists, including the cross for Beto’s header against Wolves.
Speaking of the quality service provided by Grealish, Beto stated: “I told Jack (Grealish) at the beginning of the game, I said, ‘Give me one today.’ And five minutes passed, he gave it to me, so it was perfect.”
Same again against Villa next week please, lads.
