If we can: David Moyes doesn’t rule out more signings ahead of transfer deadline

Everton manager David Moyes has revealed that the Blues could sign more players ahead of Monday’s deadline.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Molyneux, Moyes stated we will sign players ‘if we can’.

Everton have made eight signings this summer, though two of them are reserve goalkeepers.

However, the squad is certainly stronger than last season, with arrivals such as Jack Grealish and Tyler Dibling adding creativity.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has bolstered the midfield, alongside Charley Alcaraz, who signed a permanent deal following a successful loan. Left-back Adam Aznou arrived from Bayern Munich, but injury has prevented him from making his competitive debut.

Moyes’ striking options remain threadbare, with Thierno Barry a solitary attacking arrival so far this summer. With Youssef Chermiti linked with a loan move to Rangers, a striker will surely be on Moyes’ wish list.

Meanwhile, there’s still no sign of a right-back, which most fans would no doubt agree was a must this summer.

When asked about the possibility of adding further recruits, Moyes stated: “We could do but I don’t want to raise expectations all of the time. I’ve said throughout the summer that we will be making signings and we have done.”

He continued: Whether we get anything over the line before Monday night, I couldn’t be sure of that. If we can do it great, if we can’t, we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

IT COULD BE A BUSY FEW DAYS FOR DAVID MOYES

Moyes also has a decision to make over the future of youngster Harrison Armstrong, who impressed against Mansfield. Indeed, the 18-year-old has attracted interest from Championship clubs in the shape of a loan.

Armstrong had a successful spell at Derby County for the second half of last season, with Preston North End reportedly expressing interest.

Ideally, a striker and a right-back arrive before Monday’s deadline. The loan market could be exploited if a permanent deal is not possible.

Hopefully it will be a busy few days for the Toffees.
