Everton boss David Moyes reveals that the future of Harrison Armstrong has yet to be decided.
With just a handful of days left of the transfer window ahead of Monday’s deadline, it remains to be seen whether or not the youngster will play for the Blues this season.
The 18-year-old started for Moyes’ side against Mansfield last night and put in a very mature performance.
Indeed, the teenager provided both assists in a 2-0 win for Everton, with goals from Charly Alcaraz and Beto.
However, when asked about Armstrong remaining at the club or going out on loan, Moyes stated ‘we’ll see’, suggesting a decision has yet to be made.
Speaking with The Independent about Armstrong’s future, Moyes stated: “We’ll see. I thought Harrison played well. There’s a couple of options we’ve got for Harrison, so we’ll decide over the next few days what we’re going to do.”
SHOULD ARMSTRONG BE A PART OF DAVID MOYES’ PLANS THIS SEASON?
The young midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Derby County.
Starting 11 Championship games, making 15 appearances overall, Armstrong impressed during his brief loan spell, scoring one goal.
Speaking with the Liverpool Echo back in March, Armstrong was described as ‘pure class’ by a Derby County fan.
Indeed, it was rumoured a second loan spell was lined up, with Moyes stating there were ‘talks to be had’ with the Pride Park club.
However, the youngster’s composed display last night might just give the Everton boss something to think about.
There’s clearly interest in the teenager, with Moyes revealing there’s a ‘couple of options’. However, there’s no doubt he could play a role for the Blues this season.
Another loan might be a sensible option, with the chance to play regular first time football. A year of development away from the pressures at Everton surely wouldn’t do Armstrong any harm.
The Blues do have midfield options, so could afford to let Armstrong develop elsewhere for a season. It will be an interesting few days as we wait for Moyes’ decision on his future.
