Rangers approach Everton over Youssef Chermiti loan move

Rangers have approached Everton about a potential deal for striker Youssef Chermiti, according to reports.

The 21-year-old forward joined Everton from Sporting Lisbon in 2023 but has struggled to establish himself, making 24 senior appearances without scoring.

Ibrox sporting director Kevin Thelwell, who signed Chermiti for Everton during his time on Merseyside, is understood to be leading Rangers’ interest as Russell Martin looks to strengthen his attacking options before the transfer deadline.

Rangers face uncertainty over strikers Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane, who have both been linked with moves away from Glasgow.

However, Everton are said to prefer loaning Chermiti to another English club in order to aid his adaptation to the Premier League, potentially complicating any switch to Scotland.

Chermiti, a Portugal Under-21 international, signed a long-term deal until June 2027 with Everton in a transfer worth an initial £10m.

The transfer window closes on Monday.
