Former Everton winger Theo Walcott has shared his thoughts on Tyler Dibling. The England U-21 star has signed a four-year contract with the Blues.
Following a transfer saga that dragged on for weeks, Moyes secured the 19-year-old. With £35m paid up front to Southampton, plus £5m in add-ons, Dibling is Everton’s eighth signing of the summer.
The prodigious talent is highly rated and is an exciting addition to Moyes’ squad. No doubt patience will be required from fans due to his age. However, former Toffee Theo Walcott believes Dibling ‘will thrive’ at the club.
Speaking with the Monday Night Club via BBC Sport, Walcott said: “I think the fact they are in the new stadium, he will thrive there. I’ll be intrigued to see where he fits in because he will want to start.
When you play for Everton you have to run. At times, in a very poor Southampton team he was working his socks off, but it’s a different kind of pressure, playing for Everton Football Club.
I do hope it goes well for him. The new stadium, new players and personnel, it fits the bill for me, it’s a really good move.”
DIBLING AN EXCITING ADDITION TO BLOSSOMING SQUAD
Dibling can add width and creativity to David Moyes’ side, who secured a historic win against Brighton on Sunday. Loan signing Jack Grealish provided both assists in a 2-0 win, as Iliman Ndiaye wrote his name in the history books with the first goal at the new stadium.
Indeed, Grealish and Ndiaye appear to be developing an exciting partnership in attack. Summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also impressed with a composed performance. The arrival of Tyler Dibling could see low-sock wearing midfielders reach critical mass at the Toffees this summer.
Hopefully the youngster will get a run out against Mansfield Town in our League Cup tie tomorrow evening.
