Brentford 1-1 Everton

Jake O’Brien’s first goal for Everton, a diving header in the 77th minute, salvaged a 1-1 draw against Brentford, earning the Toffees a point on the road and extending their unbeaten run to seven league games.

Yoane Wissa’s 13th strike of the campaign put Brentford ahead right before halftime, but David Moyes’ squad managed to salvage a draw thanks to Jake O’Brien’s header in west London.

Everton took time to find their rhythm following Brentford’s lively opening, though the Toffees squandered two golden opportunities in the first half, with Beto unable to convert either.

The in-form forward couldn’t get past Mark Flekken in a one-on-one situation in the 39th minute, and just three minutes later, the Brentford keeper charged out to thwart him again.

Those wasted chances came back to haunt Everton as Brentford took the lead late in added time. Kevin Schade’s long throw was flicked onto the bar by Bryan Mbeumo, allowing Wissa to head in the rebound from point-blank range.

After the break, Flekken made an impressive save to stop Jack Harrison’s corner from sneaking in at the near post, while Carlos Alcaraz narrowly missed the target with a shot from the edge of the area.

Wissa thought he’d doubled his tally, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Everton eventually breached Brentford’s backline when O’Brien nodded Vitalii Mykolenko’s delivery past Flekken with 13 minutes left on the clock.
