Everton agree deal to sign Charly Alcaraz

Everton have agreed a deal to sign Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz on loan, according to Flamengo.

The Brazilian club have released a statement to say they can “confirm the departure of Carlos Alcaraz to Everton Football Club on loan.”

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports a buy clause to be included, which can become mandatory if certain conditions are met.

Everton tried to sign Charly Alcaraz in the past, but were unable to match the transfer fee when he moved to Southampton in January 2023 in a £12m deal.

Alcaraz came to prominence in his home country when he debuted for Racing Club at the age of 17 in 2020 and went on to make 83 appearances.

The midfielder played a key role in their runners-up showing in the Primera Division and scored the winner in the Champions Trophy final against Boca Juniors.

He since joined Juventus on loan in January 2024, before joining Flamengo in August when the Brazilian club agreed to pay an €18 million fee, becoming the biggest transfer in the club’s history.
