Sean Dyche On Everton’s Appeal and 777 Takeover

Sean Dyche spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter at Brighton & Hove Albion, and responded to questions about Everton’s appeal against a 10-point penalty for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules, plus Everton’s potential 777 takeover.

On whether there is any update: “We haven’t got a clue [on the appeal], or I certainly haven’t at the moment. The guidelines that you suggest are that [we will hear] some time by the end of the month and we will just have to wait and see.

On the impact the appeal process is having on his players: “It will be helpful if it is sooner rather than later, but I don’t know about the legal process, the timescales and why it is taking so long, so we will just have to wait and see.

“The players are working very hard, very diligently and I am very pleased with what they are doing on a daily basis and in the games – when we get it right and even in times we haven’t.

“I don’t think it is [in their minds] in a literal way on a daily basis, but I am sure it is in the back of their minds. They are still wondering ‘when are you going to tell us where we are at and give us more of a factual view of it?’.

“As I told you originally, we are of the same mindset, it is what it is. We look at where it is now and see what comes. Unfortunately, that process is taking some time.”

On the proposed takeover by 777 Partners: “I don’t know any more on that. I have had one brief meeting. It is certainly not in my hands, it is in the hands of the powers that be. They are checking all the due diligence. I don’t think that has changed, that is an ongoing process as far as I know.”
