Report: Everton to consider another bid for ‘quality’ forward Wilfried Gnonto

Everton are to consider making another bid for Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto this summer.

The Blues had a £15m bid turned down earlier in the window for the ‘quality’ 19-year-old but could return with an improved offer.

Leeds have reportedly advised Everton that the Italian international is not for sale, however the player is pushing for an Elland Road exit.

That is according to inews, who report that Everton ‘retain a live interest’ in the teenager and could return with another bid.

Gnonto is reportedly keen to speak to the Toffees about a potential move to Goodison Park and has advised Daniel Farke of his desire to leave the Yorkshire club.

Indeed, the 19-year-old refused to play during Leeds United’s Championship tie against Birmingham City, prompting some of the club’s fans to sing ‘refused to play, don’t come back’.

The Yorkshire club are still reportedly keen on reintegrating Gnonto into their squad despite the player’s stance, though it could depend on how much Everton offer, should Sean Dyche’s side return with a third bid.

Wilfried Gnonto to Everton could be a risk worth taking

Wilfried Gnonto would be an interesting signing for the Toffees and is highly rated by former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, who handed the teenager his international debut for Italy.

However, while Gnonto’s arrival at Goodison Park would be a welcome one, questions have to be asked about the young man’s attitude.

If he can refuse to play for Leeds United to force a move away from Elland Road, he can do the same to Everton should a more attractive proposal be offered to him in the future.

Whether we will see the Italian join his former teammate Jack Harrison, who the Blues signed on loan from Leeds, remains to be seen – however if Sean Dyche wants the player, the club must return with an improved bid.
