Report: Carlo Ancelotti to reunite with former Everton player who is ‘among the best forwards’

Former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti will once again link up with Richarlison next year when the Italian coach takes over the Brazilian national team.

The pair worked together at Everton when Ancelotti was appointed manager at Goodison Park in December 2019, until his shock return to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2021.

Richarlison, who Ancelotti once claimed is ‘among the best forwards’, left Merseyside a year later as Everton sold the samba star to Spurs in a £60m deal in July 2022.

However, as per BBC Sport, the two will now reunite in time for the 2024 Copa America with Carlo Ancelotti set to become the manager of the Brazilian national team.

Ancelotti dream at Everton shattered too soon

The 64-year-old earned a 10th-place finish in his only full season as Everton boss, though the Blues were on course for a European finish until a dip in form during the second half of the year derailed the campaign.

However, there was optimism that Ancelotti could be the manager to reignite Everton’s dwindling ambitions, but his unforeseeable return to Real Madrid has left the Blues in a rapid decline with back-to-back relegation fights.

Ancelotti meanwhile has won La Liga, the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and Club World Cup as Los Blancos won the lot.

Richarlison’s post-Everton career meanwhile has stalled since his switch to Spurs, with the Brazilian limited to just 27 Premier League outings last season, scoring once and contributing four assists.

The 26-year-old was Everton’s main man prior to his departure and blossomed under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, so it will be an interesting watch to see them link up on the international stage.

However, it will remain a case of ‘what might have been’ for Everton as the club seeks to rebuild under Sean Dyche following a disastrous couple of years.
