Blues interested in Bayern Munich left back

Everton are looking into the possibility of signing Juan Bernat from German Champions Bayern Munich, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Leighton Baines has been out of action since November and at 33, the former England full back isn’t getting any younger.

Cuco Martina has filled the void left by Baines, but numerous suspect performances coupled alongside the fact Brendan Galloway is warming the bench at Sunderland and Luke Garbutt isn’t registered to play has forced the Blues to act in this window.

The 24-year-old Spanish left back came through the ranks at Valencia before a move to Munich in 2014.

He has seven caps for Spain.

Bernat has played backup to David Alaba during his time at the Allianz Arena, but has still managed to rack up 101 appearances for the club.

The left back, who has also been know to fill in on the wing, has 18 months left on his Bayern deal.
