Everton have confirmed Sam Allardyce will be at USM Finch Farm this afternoon to finalise terms on becoming the new manager of Everton Football Club.

Sammy Lee is expected to join as assistant manager while former Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare will also join the backroom team.

Everton have been without a manager for over a month since sacking Ronald Koeman on 23 October after the club slipped to 18th in the Premier League following a 5-2 home defeat by Arsenal. David Unsworth – the club’s caretaker-manager oversaw a dismal run of five defeats from seven games but lifted Everton to 16th, collecting four points from his four league matches.

Allardyce, 63, understood to be the preferred choice of director of football Steve Walsh, has been out of football since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

David Unsworth, who has been in caretaker charge since Koeman was sacked 37 days ago, will take charge of his final game on Wednesday evening against West Ham United.

…for some reason yesterday I started to get a feel of an FA Cup run with Allardyce. Probably a misplaced feeling, but the whole episode surrounding his appointment, Rooney back at the club etc made me have a little interest at 22-1 with SkyBet.

He doesn't care about the cup mate. Probably better of betting on us not to get past round 4

He’s got an 18 month deal because he would not accept a deal until the end of he season.
Regardless of what the deal says he’s more than likely gone at the end of the season.

Yes he will get the extra compo, but we save 10/20m on Silva when we get him on a free in the summer.

We'll still pay for Silva

Oh well, never mind. Maybe a run in the side and Sam's organisation at the back will help him improve?

unlike unsworth who looked like he was fit for a psychiatric ward due to the pressures of the job in that press conference, any abuse received will be like water off a ducks back for Sam.
