Ronald Koeman is happy with the improvement of Everton’s defending of set plays.
Koeman: “It was a big issue to change this, to have better defending and also better offensively set plays.
“They conceded 14 goals out of set plays last season. That’s crazy.
“We showed clips from last season and did a different organisation. We are giving more attention to set plays, at least twice a week. This morning we did a meeting about Chelsea only about set plays.
“The players need to be involved. They need to talk among themselves about the best ways to defend them.
“You can win or lose out of a corner or free-kick. I’m really happy now, but we need to continue. Maybe if you concede a lot of goals you are a little bit afraid to get corner kicks given against.
“It’s good to hear we’re doing better than last season – but that wasn’t so difficult.”
