Martinez: “No players will be leaving in January”

Roberto Martinez has again insisted that no player will be leaving Everton in January (Excluding Steven Naismith, of course…)

‘Whatever it (speculation) is, it is positive,’ said Martinez. ‘You don’t get it if you are not playing well. It goes hand-in-hand. We want to play Champions League football together. No players will be leaving in January.

‘We won’t bring instability to our squad. We are facing a really, really exciting period. Any talk about players having valuations is a waste of time.’

On being asked specifically about Kevin Mirallas, Martinez said: “He has always been a very important player, you have those ups and downs. It can stop you from having continuity. It was just a case of making sure he was full fit and last week was his best performance of the season. He looked fresh.

“When Kevin performs in that manner, he is unique and we hope that he carries on in that manner until the end of the season.
