Roberto Martinez has lavished praise on his side following their 2-0 victory over West Brom.
Martinez: “I thought the performance was outstanding.
“I think in the first three games we showed really good signs on the ball and I think today, some of the combination play and some of the attacking play was outstanding but the pleasant aspect today was how well we defended, the intensity that we showed and it was a real joy to see us back to our best.
“You have to give credit to this West Brom side, they wanted to make it a really open game. They played eye-to-eye, pressed us really high up and that’s why we seen such an open game, and a great game of football but from our point of view we’re delighted to see the other side, that defensive intensity that we always have that unfortunately in the previous three games we couldn’t show.”
