Everton 2-3 Man City

Everton suffered defeat in their final home game of the season as Manchester City secured a gripping 3-2 win to become only the third team to record an away win at the Blues´ home season.

Roberto Martinez welcomed back Captain Phil Jagielka, coming in for the ineligible Gareth Barry. A change which saw Everton adopt a 3-5-2 formation, with Antolin Alcaraz and John Stones both starting alongside Jagielka, with full-backs Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines operating a wing-back role.

James McCarthy, Leon Osman, Ross Barkley, Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku completed the rest of the eleven.

Sylvain Distin returned from injury to feature on the bench, joined by Joel Robles, Tony Hibbert, Aiden McGeady, Gerard Deulofeu, Luke Garbutt and Ryan Ledson.

Everton started bright, and opened the scoring on 11 minutes in spectacular style through Ross Barkley who beat Man City´s Joe Hart with a remarkable long-range effort, but City hit back exploiting Evertons left-hand side. Antolin Alcaraz was pulled out of position as Sergio Aguero levelled matters for the visitors.

Edin Dzeko scored either side of half-time before Romelu Lukaku headed Everton back into the contest with a 65th-minute header. A breathless finale ensued, but Man City rallied to hang on.
