Tangerines Juiced At Goodison

Everton have progressed to the Quarter Final of the FA Cup thanks to a 2-0 win over Championship outfit Blackpool at Goodison Park. Two early goals from Royston Drenthe and Denis Stracqualursi secured the win for the Toffees.

Billed as a potential upset before kick-off, Everton set about ensuring no such thing occurred against a Blackpool side missing several key players such as influential frontman Matty Phillips.

It only took 40 seconds for Everton to silence the travelling Seasiders, as Gueye dived down the left flank, sent in a teasing cross which was controlled by Fellaini, laid off for Drenthe who sent a stunning curled shot back across goal and beyond Gilks in the Blackpool goal.

The second soon followed. Drenthe did brilliantly to win a corner with a direct run on the right. He took the corner, which was deflected on it´s path towards Stracqualursi, who poked it home from close range.

Everton dominated almost the entire match, with Blackpool only having a handful of chances, the best of which in open play fell to substitute Lua-Lua, who forced a great save from Tim Howard.

In injury time, Heitinga was adjudged to have fouled Roman Bednar to concede a penalty. However, veteran striker Kevin Phillips thundered the resultant spot-kick well over the bar.

And that was that! The Toffees could have won by four or five on another day, but a win is a win. Everton are one win away from Wembley. Get ready to book your days off work, boys and girls! COYB!
