Cliftonville chairman Gerard Lawlor has confirmed that they have accepted an offer from Everton for striker Rory Donnelly, after the Toffees substantially outbid Swansea.
The Welsh outfit were initially in the driving seat to secure the teenagers signature, however Everton have gone beyond the initial £100´000 offer made by the Swans.
The deal is by no means finalised, with Swansea still in the running after the Cliftonville ace visited their training ground recently, however it is expected that the situation will be resolved ahead of the transfer window opening in January.
“Everton´s bid is considerably higher than Swansea´s. There is a major difference in the bids. They are miles apart,” declared Lawlor.
“My job is to do the best thing for Cliftonville. It´s not all about money, it´s a great opportunity for Rory.”
