"It feels great to be here"

Everton new signing Royston Drenthe is delighted to have arrived at Goodison Park, and believes his style of play is perfect for the Premier League.

Drenthe: “I want to play as soon as possible. I think that my qualities are English qualities in the way I play my football. I have the technique and I like to work hard and English competition is perfect for me.

“The Spanish league is a good league but it is really different. It is slower and there are more touches of the ball but here it is faster and that is more the style of my play.”

Summer uncertainty over Drenthe´s future meant he had been training away from Madrid´s Galacticos of late – a situation which has only increased his hunger to excel in a Blue shirt.

“It feels great to be here,” he added. “I have been training hard at Real Madrid but not training with the team. I think I can do a good job at Everton and it is a good team. I am happy to be here.

“I know a lot about Everton and the players´” he continued. “They have a really good team and they win important games.”
