Neville Backs Young Players

Everton skipper Phil Neville says Everton´s aspiring young players can use the Club´s US tour to show they are ready to be unleashed on the Premier League.

The likes of midfielder Ross Barkley, goalkeeper Adam Davies and forwards Magaye Gueye, Apostolos Vellios and Conor McAleny are all Stateside with most expected to get minutes on the pitch – starting against the Philadelphia Union tonight.

The Blues kick off their tour at PPL Park at 12.30am (BST) on Wednesday night (Thursday morning) in a game being shown live and exclusively on evertontv.

David Moyes is likely to start with a strong side against a team enjoying a good season in the MLS.

And Neville says the younger members of the party are starting to show that they belong in that company.

“You can buy a player for £10m but when one of your own comes through the fans enjoy it more and the players enjoy it more,” he said.

“And when a young player comes through they bring a freshness to the team and a fearless attitude.

“We don´t have the biggest squad so they are going to get chances and over here they are doing really well. These games are a big opportunity for them.”
