ZDS/Simod/Screen Sport games......

Any of the older guys on here have any memories?, most of mine have been obliterated(thankfully!!)from my memories,I went to most of them and a few away games, remember the mainly eerie empty ghostly stadiums, best games I can recall were a fine away win at Man U,an entertaining 3-3 draw at Leeds were Bob the Pole ran them ragged,Stapleton playing Centre back for the Mancs at Goodison and scoring a comical headed OG,grim times as we all knew we shouldn't really have been in these twelfth rate competitions but hey ho said Lawro lol

I deffo remember Bob the pole, does that help?

I remember the ZDS Leeds 3-1 game at Goodison and remember getting bullied battered and bruised by palace in the final

Was there for that. Absolutely ice cold. Not even 8,000 in the ground.

Was at Wembley for both the Simod and ZDS. I was only around 7 for the first one.

Remember tell me ma to put the champagne on ice, we're going to Wembley twice that year. Went to the FA Cup final too.

A few years ago I had a wtf were they all about anyway moment and had to Google them. Advice to anyone not sure is don't Google it. It will raise your bitterness.

That 3-3 against Leeds away Dario, I'm sure the return leg where we beat them in extra time was played 2 days later on a Thursday???

My first born was due on the day of the final v Crystal Palace, my mrs was convinced he was going to be overdue. She was in Upton I was working in a hospital in Coventry and coming home at weekends (long story) . So I went to Leicester v Brighton in the league on the Saturday and my mate and his brother picked me up in Coventry on the Sunday and we went to Wembley, my son eventually came out two weeks later.

Because we had been banned from Europe so they had to introduce some competition and that.

Me too,oh what a night,what made it even worse that was most of the ground was open for admission if I recall correctly lol lol lol

I think it was,most of us though were huddled together at the back of the street end!

Think Screensport was like the Eurosport of the day. Remember we beat Spurs at home and Waddle missing a chance or two. Really should have been posting memories of European cup games if it wasn't for the murderers.

Someone mentioned we won 2nd leg 3-1 so I've got a feeling it might have been 1-1 full time.

I just remember being in such dismal competitions due to our lovely neighbours murdering folk in Belgium. The rest I've erased from memory.
