Deffo there is a gamble with every transfer mate, the problem with the gamble on Zaha is that it could be a £70/80m gamble.

Same was said when we paid £45mill for Sigurdson and he had a terrible 1st season. Or £50mill for Richarlison after half a good season at Watford.

Zaha is a talent. A player who every side needs to have a plan to try and stop when they play against him. The idea of having him and Richarlison in the same side is worth the price tag for me.

The prices being thrown about for zaha have him as one of the best players in the world, he’s not even one of the best in the prem.
As said 2 weeks ago, 40 mil, fair enough but 75+, we are getting had over
There are prices for footballers and then there are prices for premier league clubs. Ever since the tv deals came in, european clubs doubled their fees when they knew a premier league club was interested. A bit like premier league club fleecing Chinese clubs when their league started. And now we are left with the likes of Newcastle wanting 50m for longstaff and palace wanting 80m for zaha.

I just think now it's abundantly clear he's the main target (for this position).

If it was this time last week (which is what I was saying initally when we had our first bid rejected 8 days ago), there's more time.

I'm sure the club aren't panicking. But this wouldn't be a panic buy. This would be a quality buy that could really - along with Kean, Gomes etc - help push us on.

I still think something might turn with Zouma but at this stage it looks a very slim chance and it seems Tomori more likely. If we're losing quality in defence, then we need to make sure we've got quality in attack to compensate. As much as a coup Kean is, we still need more.

The Tomori signing I will never agree with. Small time behaviour to develop a player for a club who we want to get much closer to. We need someone experienced for cover.

I hope we do push through the Zaha deal but time is definitely against us now.

I think it's the type of player more importantly in that deal. As in, it may well be a deal that's easy to do and we know he can offer pace, strength, height etc.

But yeh, I agree generally. But my trepidation with that deal wouldn't be the developing a player for another club as much as it would be I just don't think he's up to scratch. We'd definitely be downgrading in that area if he's our 3rd choice.

:D

What's it like on your end, Al? Still sticking to their guns – I can't imagine otherwise?
We think it isn't happening. Zaha's representatives are doing everything they can to get it done but I think they may be spewing Whum to Everton.
"Just another £5m will do it"
Back to Palace;
"Everton have said they'll do another £10m"
etc etc.
