Why bid tho if we don’t have the money lol
Not saying he’s right and I instinctively agree with your statement but, if someone had warned Leeds fans of imminent financial collapse most of them would have repeated your statement.
Regardless we have no power over our financial direction and none of us , including the esk ,has enough detailed knowledge of the state of our finances to make a definitive judgement on the implications of our strategy.
So best bet is to just go with the flow. Unless anybody wants to organise a march down Goodison Road on match day bearing banners imploring ‘Mosh Stop Spending NOW!!

(This is in answer to Zaha living in London!)
It might seem like a silly comment...but...Michael Owen travelled from his Cheshire home (with Horse racing stables) to Newcastle by Helicopter for considerable time!

It's just a joke really about the time Zaha spent at Man United when Moyes was manager, over an alleged affair Zaha supposedly had with DM's daughter.

Don't worry uncle Uzy has this covered. Writing billion dollar cheques whilst sunning himself in the Med... Oh my days!!

The Leeds comparison isn't applicable as they gambled on progressing in the CL and the TV money it brought. We are controlled by a wealthy benefactor who will either pay up or we will walk away from the deal.

But I have the same problem with statements like this as well as those by the esk and other doomsayers. Neither of us has the depth of information available to us to make an empirical statement concerning either projected outcome. We are just making informed guesses. Guesses informed by our own inherent bias as much as an any substantive evidence,
We could do a Leeds or we could become Real Madrid who knows? Both are possible although somewhere in between will probably be more likely.
Let’s just enjoy the ride and see where it takes us. (But keep one hand over the ejector seat , you know, just in case....)

Leeds spent money they didn’t have and got crippled by their wage bill. We are reducing our wage bill, have a manageable net spend this window, and are only in trouble of a fine from regulators not of our wage bill swallowing us into administration if we don’t make the champions league.
