Youth academy prospects

If all those academy players are that good, they should have made it somewhere else. Like Jags and Baines.

In reality, are there any released academy players in the Moyes era have actually made it elsewhere?

Vaughan is talking to Palace about a move, Baxter is trying to get a move poss Blackpool, Wallace Tranmere captain could play at a higher level and will do. Although I get the feeling you are intent on being negative about our youth academy, so I may be wasting my time.

Hope Akpan also someone who won himself a transfer to the PL after being released. Not saying everyone makes it, but we should be doing better with the potential in our academy I feel.

I am just being realistic here.

I agree but there aren't many out there who is as good as Osman.

Obviously Ross Barkley, George Green, Matthew Kennedy, Chris Long and John Lundstram. Robby might give Vellios a go as well as he'll already know about him, (Vellios' first goal for Everton), to be honest I think only one of these has potential to be world class.

Unfortunately there is only "a Rooney" in 20 years time.

Only Osman, Hibbert and Anichebe made it in the last 10 years.

As a result, don't put too much hope on the academy.

Think that is basically true, though I did hear someone on the radio calling Ferguson a lucky manager ,his point was that when he first came to man utd he had five world class players come through, Scholes,giggs,beckham, and the Neville's (maybe not Phil). So it can happen.

I think youth development is one thing few can argue Martinez doens't have a decent track record on, not just having the foresight to take a punt on Callum McManaman but others, too. Both McCarthy and McArthur were known to be decent but it was Martinez who turned them into Premier League players, now McCarthy is in the 5/10m bracket, apparently

I expect Ross Barkley to become a regular under Martinez, he'll get the freedom and confidence from Martinez to go out there and play his game, not constantly ignored by a manager who thought Phil Neville was a better midfielder

I think Phil was selected for his leadership on the pitch some of the times,and I was a big critic of Moye.

I believe Moyes thought Neville was the more disciplined midfielder, not necessarily the better.

Anyways, hope to see Lundstram next, not really got high hopes for anyone in the U21s or U18s.
