….tbf, Maupay wasn’t fast and was technically poor when the ball was played into his feet. He was just ‘nothing’.
He never even moved like a striker did he? Played like we’d moved Allan upfront! Infact, Maupay is such a narky snide guy, he probably should’ve been a defensive-minded central midfielder. Harrying was his best asset.

It’s why I sometimes wish we’d just go for a small speedster profile rather than another target man. Then we would have to play into feet and with through balls. Instead we just buy whoever is 6ft4 for set pieces then lash the ball down the channel to them.
We haven't had one like that since Adrian heath

Can't see how he's an upgrade on Barry and Beto, which you'd think was a bar that was not difficult to overcome for a striker. Moyes tried to sign him several times at West Ham and they probably dodged a bullet with him.

Buying a Calvert-Lewin style striker to replace the player who has failed to replace Calvert-Lewin in a team with no attacking fullbacks, rarely cross the ball and who are bad at set pieces and long throw-ins may be the most late-career Moyes striker signing ever.

A traffic cone is an upgrade - at least it doesn’t take a wage.
