2025/26 Youssef Chermiti

He's played in about 250 first team minutes and has played on the wing in his limited opportunities this pre-season. We'll have to start calling you Nostradaveus as you can see things others can't.
I think I can see GS potential. I dont see it in Chermiti. 🤷‍♂️

In any game I've seen him have game time in he looks like he thinks pottering around without intent is his job. It isn't. It's getting goals. And he doesn't get them, or even that many shots off.
He has looked very promising to me , good movement, good feet .
But that is just from very limited game time .
It is up to the people who see him every day in training to evaluate his future with us.
I would prefer we develop him and not chase him out for some putative 29year old grock , looked to pad out his pension pot and taking a handsome wage for the privilege of seeing him knock 5 goals a season in.

A lot of people didn’t see it in Kean either and … well ..you know , they were utterly wrong !
Just to add , if you can judge with any certainty on the future ability of a young player based on the minimal amount of times you or I have seen Chermiti play , you have missed your vocation.

Not here where it matters we weren't.

Maybe suited to the slower build up play in the leagues of Europe. Here he was just lost.
No ,he would have developed into this league given the chance.
The differences between leagues are exaggerated .
If the PL was as exceptional as some make out it wouldn’t be filled to the brim with foreign talent who began their careers in a variety of leagues across the world .

I'm sorry. I watched Kean like everyone else and I doubt I was alone in thinking he was just not right for the PL.

If he's finishing well in a league that allows a bit of latitude to forward players then good luck to him. But never in a million years would he have thrived here.

You are exaggerating the difference between the leagues , the differences exist , but Italian clubs are quite capable of defeating PL clubs , so differences aren’t that definitive.
You definitely weren’t alone in thinking it , and you also weren’t alone in being totally wrong .
I watched and thought he was well worth persevering with but I’m not claiming any intuitive superiority just illustrating differences of opinion .
But the point is that we are poorly placed to make absolute judgement , until a player gets a good run in the side we don’t have enough evidence to make a final judgement.
Players can take multiple seasons to establish themselves and prove their ability.
We used to understand this and be more patient. Now we demand instant success.
It’s a self defeating stance , denying young players the support to grow.
