It’s the most difficult position on the pitch to fill - a goalscorer. We taken a gamble on Beto and Chermiti - at the moment it’s failed. However we haven’t got the money (or the attraction of the club at present) to be luring proven goal-scorers to the club. We have to hope we can unearth another potentially good striker in the meantime. You only have to look at United who’ve wasted in excess of 110m on Zirkee and Hojlund in their hopes of getting a regular scorer in.

Sign player to be developed.

By season end he's 2nd choice.

Gets injured in preseason while impressing.

Today 'fans' are wondering why he isnt playing, saying he isnt good enough.

You dont need to me a Mensa member ffs
The saddest comments are the thinly veiled “ I hate Thelwell. He was signed by Thelwell therefore I hope he doesn’t succeed “ ones , with of course a “…. but I hope he proves me wrong “ at the end . The fact is he’s a20 year old who’s had limited opportunities, rotten luck with injuries and still to fully prove himself as a PL player but the promise is definitely there. Hopefully he gets the breaks and the chance to establish himself, otherwise in three or four years we could be looking at a Lookman situation with Chermiti ripping it up elsewhere .

I've also noticed this recently in this thread. It is indeed sad to see

He was looking good at the end of last season, he looked great in pre-season, and has been unlucky with injuries since. Some bad cranks in here. Itching to boo the lad before he’s even got back on the pitch.
Are these bad cranks here with us now? What are they telling you?

Nobody’s dead eager to boo the lad, we’ve essentially had him at 18 months of probably the most critical phase of his development and done nothing for him. Getting splinters from sitting on the bench has done nothing for him. It feels like we signed him without a plan, we‘ve spaffed cash we don’t/didnt have.
