Your unforgettable Goodison Park FA Cup memory

Was at that match. Was such a mental day for me. Was working in a bar on Seel Street and a bunch of Everton lads came in for drinks before the match. Got talking to them, had the banter and just in passing I said I wasn't able to get a ticket etc.

Few drinks later they came over and said their mate couldn't make it and offered me his ticket for free. Luckily I'd a dead sound manager who let me clock off early for the night. Had a pint or two with them then a taxi up to Goodison and we were sat Park End right beside the Chelsea away end.

What a night, atmosphere was electric. Actually thought I was going to die celebrating when Lukaku scored the 2nd. Thought my heart stopped and looked around and there was lads falling over chairs and all sorts!

Funny looking back that I just went to the match with a group of lads I didn't even know and had a cracking day out, sums us up as a fanbase

Would love to know if any of those lads are on here.
I was pitchside, in the wheelchair section. As the game turned sour for them, Chelsea fans behind us were all hurling scarves away towards the pitch, so I took one as a trophy.

Earliest good ones I remember were both on TV in 1995. The semi against Spurs and then the final.

In person it’s the 2009 semi against Man Utd.

Was born at a really rubbish time for being an Everton fan

You have to read the title again Wizard.☝️ You've selected 2 from Wembley and one from Elland Road.

Just goes to show how many great fa cup games at Goodison down the last 30 odd years...

Couldn't get a ticket for the 09 semi so watched it at Goodison in the Joe Mercer suite iirc. All I can remember is that we got a few bottles of white wine on our table and I was the only one drinking it. Don't think I made it to the penalties.

Yep you are correct. Bit drunk so just read it as FA Cup in general. Really clutching at straws here but I'll go with Gosling without putting a huge amount of thought into it

Everton: Myhre, Steve Watson, Xavier, Ball, Unsworth, Gemmill, Gravesen, Pembridge, Hughes, Campbell, Cadamarteri. Subs: Gough, Simonsen, Moore, Jevons, Tal.

Tranmere: Achterberg, Hill, Jobson, Hamilton, Yates, Allen, Hinds, Koumas, Flynn, Parkinson, Rideout. Subs: Allison, Henry, Scott Taylor, Murphy, Hume.

"The disappointing part was that we couldn't handle the pressure of the situation after Tranmere scored."

Cracking thread! Just the games when i was there.... the replay after the 4-4, Plymouth replay when I missed the last train home, smashing Norwich, but this one just jumped out to me, Wimbledon in 1989. I went to pretty well all the games ,including the final, but I remember this for the noise and atmosphere. Of all the games I've ever seen at Goodison this goal was the most raucous I've known. Shot after shot after shot, crescendo of noise until McCall scored and then bedlam. Enjoy this fellow Blues.

Great memories of the cup at Goodison, all the games mentioned previously obviously but a few under the radar, some may remember.
Swindon Town in a replay, Gordon Lee's 1st game, we were awful that night, 1 nil down, equalised about 10 mins from the end then David Jones bulldozed his way through in last minute to win it.
Ipswich Town, about 2 weeks after they battered us at Goodison 4-0, no one gave us a chance of beating them, but we did 2-1.
Crystal Palace, 3rd round replay, great night, atmosphere was brilliant and a cracking game which we won 3-2.
Think the Fa cup meant something more back then, sadly TV and money to be made in other competitions has demoted it down the pecking order but the great memories will always remain.

FA Cup 5th round 1991 4-4 against the RS. The game was crazy and we won the replay ;)
I was supposed to go the replay with my brother (99%certain that was the game, midweek game) … anyhow I was ill and couldn’t go….. he went and was buzzing for days later…. He said when we scored the whole Gwladys street were jumping so much all the lights went out in the stand… best night he’s ever had he says.

Another great one of mine was the Boro quarter final in 09. Fellaini equalised right after half time, battered them in the 2nd half and Goodison erupted when Saha scored the winner at the park end. When he scored I honestly thought the stars were aligning and we’d win it that year. I haven’t felt like since even though we got to the semis in 12 and 16, they just never felt the same for some reason.
