Your opinion of a male nurse caring for your child

I was looking into applying to the UK for nursing until I saw how lousy the salaries were and the nazi out of date policies that the UK has when you want to bring pets in.

No one cares what sex you are anymore. There is some anamosity from rural people in the states against forginers but that is about it.

You wanna take pets into a hospital???????

Probably the same as if my young son was being sent to scouts and this was his Scout Master:

... would be completely fine with it.

It won't make any difference, doctors come in both sexes, if you're going to be a nurse, just make sure you're the best you can be and challenge bad practice, irrespective of the "Rank" or experience of the person you're challenging.

Good Luck.

Wouldn't bother me in the least, not wanting to be sexist or open controversy but I actually find that men in the Childcare, Primary Teaching and Medical professions are often much more caring and accepting in their approach to child welfare.

Alright lads and lasses

I would like if possible some (sensible) opinions on the following:

I am a mature student (33) going to university in September to study to be a child nurse. I had my own business until not long ago, a sole trader in construction and got fed up of it. I was doing ok financially in fact everything was sound apart from I wasn't happy not using my brain (I think I knew the job too well, there was no challenge)

So without going into all the details I am doing an access to higher education course and going uni in september to do the degree.

I told this to someone the other day and they had a go saying I was weird! bearing in mind I have two daughters (7 & 10) have a valid CRB/DBS check done by the NHS and volunteer one day a week on our local children's intensive care ward helping out for experience.

My question is how would you feel if a 33 year old man is the nurse looking after your sick young daughter or son as it is generally a female orientated environment?

Thanks

G

My mates training to become a nurse, he's a 22 year old lad. I have no problems with him doing it at all. If a Nurse is a female job, then by that comparison a Doctor is a males job, which simply isn't the case.

If you are competent enough to do whats required, you'd be okay by my standards.

Good Luck Mate!

Sad this thread had to be made. Disappointed some would find issue with it.

Eh? Why? Can't people have a debate on here any more? I don't believe in any way that males should be discriminated against in this circumstance, but I can sure as hell find reasons why people might have issue with it, and I love a good debate.

As long as things don't turn nasty and people start getting all homophobic or whatnot, it's surely not a problem right?

Same thing as gays in football, I've no problem with it but would have no issue having to debate on the subject and play the role as "against". Debates are cool.
